The DEEP Projects Cluster-Booster approach is suitable for a wide variety of simulation applications from academia and industry. Due to the extreme flexibility of the platform it is a perfect fit in the following use cases or scenarios:
- Scalability needs to be improved – but the low/medium scalable code parts limit this
- Multi-physics and/or multi-scale phenomena form the core of the application
- Efficient (high-bandwidth, low latency) MPI communication between accelerators is needed to benefit from them
- Benefits could potentially be achieved with Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors, but lack of memory is hindering it
- Efficient parallel I/O on a hybrid system is the key to optimize an application
